Brad Niedermaier

Baseball
Induction Year: 2016

Brad Niedermaier graduated from Niles West in 1991 and is considered by many to be one of the best baseball talents Niles West baseball has ever had. Brad was a multi-sport athlete playing football as a quarterback and defensive end; in baseball as a pitcher and catcher; and in basketball as a power forward. He was fortunate to have played for two NWHOF inductees in Coach Bill Richardson (football) and Coach George Galla (baseball).

Brad’s team, managed by current head coach and IHSA Hall of Famer, Garry Gustufson, went on to win the 1990 Summer State Baseball Championship. After completing a widely successful high school athletic career, Brad went on to play baseball at Northwestern University. There, Brad earned first team Big 10 honors as a pitcher in 1994 & 1995 and led the Big 10 in strikeouts both years.

Before graduating from Northwestern University, Brad was drafted by the MLB's Minnesota Twins in 1991 and 1995. He eventually played 6 years of professional baseball from 1995-2000, playing for the Minnesota Twins, New York Yankees, and Colorado Rockies organizations. Niles West welcomes Brad to the Niles West Athletic Hall of Fame and is glad to have him return to where it all began for him.
