The 1975 varsity baseball team achieved new levels of greatness by winning the 1975 Illinois State Championship. Led by Niles West’s Hall of Fame coach Jim Phipps, the team defeated perennial contender Alton High School.

The team’s incredible winning record of 23-2 that season allowed them to represent Niles West down state and earned the school one of its only state championships in a long and proud history of athletic competition.

We are ecstatic to welcome back many of the players from the championship team to help remember, honor and celebrate their storied accomplishments.
